Design
As founder and owner of Unique Landscapes Ltd, I have been lucky enough over several years to have travelled and lived in various countries around the world and have had the opportunity of landscaping and designing in some of the countries that I have visited. Each opportunity brought up many challenges and problems as each country would be significantly different in climate, language, plant availability and access to the initial site. However, now based in England all of the skills that were learnt by overcoming all of the problems above, can now be put to good use with an over view of being broad minded, realistic yet creating something completely unique.
Good design takes into consideration the seemingly lost art of listening to any new prospective client. Good design also takes into effect working to a budget. With over 16 years of continued experience getting the most out of your budget is something to which we pride ourselves on. However, being realistic to costings and expenditure is just as important for the contractor as it is for the client.
Skilful design would allow the new project to blend into the existing surroundings. The materials need to be sympathetic with any existing features that are added do not "jar" with too many other elements within the same space. Providing the highest level of customer care is very important to us and we are experienced at working to budgets and deadlines, and show full consideration for our clients confidentiality, other contractors and the community.
We work hard to create and to bring to life your "dream garden" .
There are four stages within our initial design procedure:
- Initial visit to listen and discuss your individual requirements, view your garden and create the brief. During the visit we will provide practical advice and offer ideas and suggestions that draw on our many years of experience and knowledge of the latest construction techniques in landscaping.
- Survey. This would include an accurate and complete site survey of all existing buildings, any existing and relevant boundary lines, levels, and drainage etc. From this we would produce an A1 size sketch plan to scale, this would be presented to you, the client, for discussion. At this time any relevant changes would be made and the plan would be deemed acceptable for completion.
- Design. Using all of the information from the above and the detailed site survey, an agreed plan is inked over and copies sent to the client. This plan would form the basis for any future construction work.
- Optional planting plans are over-laid ontop of the construction plans and based on detailed discussions with regards to favourite colours & certain varieties, a plan would be drawn up to form the basis of any future planting work.
We would also take into consideration the following when soft landscaping (planting):
Soil type - sandy, loam, clay, acid, alkaline Drainage Planting style, plant preferences and specimen plants Herbaceous plants, shrubs, climbers, conifers, roses, trees Seasons of interest and year-round planting Maintenance Colour and scent Plants that encourage wildlife and birds. Allergies and poisonous plants, with particular consideration for children.
Costings would depend upon location and size of the project, however, we would be happy to discuss with you your individual requirements at any time. If you would like to get in touch, please see our "how to contact us" page.
